Captain Danny L. Noles, USN

 

Chief of Staff

Office of Naval Intelligence

 

 

Captain Danny Noles assumed the duties of ONI Chief of Staff in June 2020 after serving as Commanding Officer of Farragut Technical Analysis Center since June 2018.

 

CAPT Noles enlisted in the Navy in 1982 as a Cryptologic Technician (Technical). During his enlisted time, he held ranks from Seaman (E-l) to Chief Petty Officer (E-7) serving in at sea and ashore assignments. 

 

In 1995, he was selected for commissioning as a Limited Duty Officer (Cryptology), and in 2002 was selected for a lateral transfer into the Information Warfare Community. 

 

His sea assignments include a tour aboard USS Chosin (CG 65), where he performed a variety of duties including Signals Warfare Officer, Intelligence Officer, Electronic Warfare Officer and Theater Ballistic Missile Defense Officer. CAPT Noles also served two tours as a Staff Cryptologist/Information Warfare Officer with Carrier Strike Group 15 (CSG-15), embarked aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), and CSG-11, embarked aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68). 

 

His shore tours include the Bureau of Naval Personnel as the Information Warfare (IW) Detailer and Assistant IW Community Manager. He was also the Executive Officer at the Naval Information Operations Command, Whidbey Island, Washington, and the Commanding Officer, Navy Information Operations Command, Bahrain. 

 

His staff assignments include a tour with the Naval Special Warfare Group 1 (NSWG-1) as the Staff Cryptologist; OPNAV as the Special Assistant to Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Communications Networks; US Cyber Command as the CENTCOM Branch Chief for Cyber Plans and the Commanders Action Group. CAPT Noles was selected as the first U.S. cyber exchange officer to be assigned to the United Kingdom as the Deputy Commander, Joint Forces Cyber Group. 

 

CAPT Noles attended undergraduate studies at the University of Montevallo, University of Maryland, American Military University, and Mercer University and completed Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) course of study at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, graduating with a Master’s degree in Military Operational Art and Science studies. 

 

His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 Awards), Meritorious Service Medal (3 Awards), Navy Commendation Medal (6 Awards), Navy Achievement Medal (3 Awards) and various service and campaign awards. His warfare qualifications include Information Warfare Dominance (Officer), Surface Warfare (Officer) and Submarine Warfare (Enlisted).
