Farragut Technical Analysis Center

 

Captain Devron Eakins assumed command of the Office of Naval Intelligence Farragut Technical Analysis Center in August 2024. He previously served as the commanding officer of the Navy Expeditionary Intelligence Command.  

 

Eakins’ operational assignments include: surface warfare officer aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72); staff officer at Afloat Prepositioning Squadron 4 and Commander, Task Force 53 in Manama, Bahrain; individual augmentee assignment as battle watch captain and fleet watch officer for U.S. Commander, U.S. 5th Fleet; deputy assistant chief of staff for Carrier Strike Group 8 embarked on the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), completing back-to-back deployments in the U.S. 6th and U.S. 5th Fleet areas of operation. 

 

Ashore, Eakins’ assignments include: lead naval warfare instructor at Officer Training Command in Newport, Rhode Island; Naval War College intelligence support at the Office of Naval intelligence Detachment, Newport; chief for the Joint Operations Center J2 Watch and J25 intel planner at U.S. Cyber Command; officer in charge of Fleet Intelligence Detachment, Washington, D.C.; deputy assistant chief of staff for intelligence at U.S. Fleet Cyber Command, Commander 10th Fleet, and Navy Space Command in Fort Meade, Maryland. 

 

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the son of a retired U.S. Coast Guardsman, Eakins enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a yeoman and was selected for a Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship in 1997. He received his commission after graduating from Tulane University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science. Eakins holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Boston University, a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, and a graduate-level certification in cyber security fundamentals from the Naval Postgraduate School. He completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I at the Naval War College. 

 

Eakins is a recipient of the Rear Adm. Donald M. Showers award as honor graduate from the Naval Intelligence Officer Basic Course.  His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3), Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), and various campaign and unit awards.
