Rear Admiral Curt Copley, USN

Director, National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office

Commander, Office of Naval Intelligence

 

Rear Admiral Curt Copley assumed command of the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) and became Director, National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO) in June 2021.

 

His previous Flag Officer assignments include deputy director of operations, National Security Agency; director of intelligence, U.S. Forces – Afghanistan; director of intelligence, U.S. Strategic Command; and deputy chief of special collection operations, National Security Agency.

 

Rear Adm. Copley’s command tours include U.S. Central Command’s Joint Intelligence Center (JICCENT) as well as the Kennedy Irregular Warfare Center (KIWC), Office of Naval Intelligence. 

 

His operational tours include Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA- 151), embarked on USS Midway (CV 41) in Japan; assistant intelligence officer, Commander, Carrier Strike Group 2 aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) and USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75); augmented Commander, U.S. 6th Fleet (C6F) in Gaeta, Italy, just prior to Operation Allied Force; and deployed six times to Iraq and Afghanistan as director of intelligence for Joint Special Operations Task Forces.

 

Shore assignments included Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Pacific staff, Lemoore, Calif.; Fleet Ocean Surveillance Information Facility (FOSIF), Spain; Joint Analysis Center (JAC), United Kingdom; U.S. European Command (USEUCOM), Germany; Center of Naval Intelligence, Va.; Navy Staff as N2/N6 Integration Branch head, Pentagon; and director of intelligence for Naval Special Warfare Group, Va. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and with highest distinction from the College of Naval Command and Staff (CNCS) in Newport, R.I., where he was selected as an associate fellow to the Chief of Naval Operations’ Strategic Studies Group XX. He returned to the Chief of Naval Operations’ Strategic Studies Group XXXIII in 2013 as a fellow and developed operational concepts for maritime operations in 2020.
