Brooks Center for Maritime Engagement Seal

The Brooks Center for Maritime Engagement is the U.S. Navy’s Center of Excellence for maritime collaboration; integrating global expertise and unique insight to deliver strategic advantage and increased lethality for our Navy. Brooks is one of five Centers of Excellence that are distinct commands under the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI).


Mission

The Brooks Center for Maritime Engagement assimilates subject matter expertise with publicly available information to address strategic priorities concerning security threats to our global maritime environment. Brooks liaises and partners with the maritime community, enhancing ONI production and fostering decision advantage for U.S. Navy leadership.

 

Functions, Roles & Responsibilities

To enhance maritime domain awareness and global interconnectedness, the Brooks Center for Maritime Engagement capitalizes on its multi-faceted workforce to address the demand signal from U.S. Navy decision makers at all levels.

 

Brooks’ key functions include: 

  • Outreach: throughout the global maritime community
  • Language Expertise: via technical translation and comprehensive research
  • Augmentation: for Combatant Command initiatives and regional undertakings
  • Tracking Advances in Science & Technology: to support U.S. Navy leadership/enterprises
  • Open Source Awareness: to monitor dynamic maritime activity
